Beat box: Creators of Nothing but beats Part II

In the wonderful world of beat making or music production there are number of acts that standout. In this particular instant the main focus will be on the exploits of selected three talents, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Just Blaze and Nicolay.

DJ Jazzy Jeff, is the very first beat maker to sample the original sounds of jazz music onto Hip Hop music. Mostly recognised for his production work done on Will Smith’s offerings in the late 80’s, along with his solo projects that presented the classic “The Magnificent” album. DJ Jazzy Jeff has impacted in genres ranging from RnB, Jazz and Neo Soul.

Just Blaze, his efforts resonated through a blend of his use of live instruments, different textures of snares supplemented with an interesting use of keyboards, and the sound of different sets of wicked drums. He is highly acclaimed in the Hip Hop world; however he’s had a couple of RnB features under his belt. Just Blaze has worked with artist such as The Game, Jay-z, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Marsha Ambrosius to mention a few.

Nicolay, the Dutch born beat maker who is the other half of Foreign Exchange is one of the most versatile independent music producers of our time. The sound created by him is that of live instrumentals blended with his signature of using electronic sound effects. The beat maker’s talents have influenced the Hip Hop, RnB, Neo Soul, Jazz, House, Techno and the lounge music genres.
