Facebook announces a new search tool

On Tuesday Facebook co-founder and Chief Executive, Mark Zuckerberg, launched a new tool to his creation. Announcing the new tool in front of a large audience at the company’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California, he explained that the tool, Graph Search, would enable users to search the social network for people, places, photos and all that’s interesting.

Graph Search can be used to find “liked” nightspots or places which friends have checked into and not forgetting it has the ability to assist jobseekers in finding employment.

Zuckerberg reiterated that users’ posts and pictures would be found only if they want them to be found. Photos posted on Instagram, owned by Facebook, would not form part of the database of photos that can be searched using Graphic Search.

With Facebook launching this tool, it’s pretty obvious that the social networking giant wants to cause some sleepless nights to competitors and what does this really mean for web big boys Google, Amazon and LinkedIn.
