Beat Box: A taste of some good music

While many music lovers where banging and jamming songs which leave quite a funny feeling during the festive season, I decided to take a different direction, that of listening to music by brilliant and inspirational individuals.

Not for a single moment did I compromise the tune and anything sounding dirty wasn’t given an ear. The fact of the matter is that I had consumed a lot of dirty music and change was imminent. What ruled my playlist were sounds from the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Salif Keita and Pops Mohamed to name drop a few.

Below is a list of some musical icons whose music and artistry fought a battle to earn attention from my ears:

Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who have solidified their identity as a force to be reckoned with.

Jazzanova, the fusion jazz band from Germany with a creative spin.

Letta Mbulu, the singer and songwriter possesses a fine and sweet voice that attains pure passion.

Louie Vega, the other half of Masters at work is one of house music’s master minds.

Angelique Kidjo, is nothing short of being labelled the new mama Africa. Give her any stage around the globe and she shall never let down.

Through their sounds, I managed to travel through different eras and learned a thing or two about the tribulations and jubilations of humans.
