Techno Bite: HTC launches a sexy smartphone

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC announced yesterday that in the next month they would be unleashing a new device, the HTC one. Many technology critics have labelled the HTC One as just an attractive and premium-feeling phone, so one can only wonder if the device can really compete with the big guns.

Its hinted that the 32 gig version will retail for R1799,90 and the 64 gig cutie will go for R2699,90. The HTC One is very much affordable and has looks that can turn heads, but the real question that’s probably running through the minds of thehierarchy of the Taiwanese maker is can the HTC One stand its own ground and get a bite of the nasty smartphone market.

Rather than filling the homepage with apps, HTC opted to keep things simple and run with “Blinkfeed” aflipboard-like collection of news stories, social status updates, pictures and other information that a person can scroll through.

Specifications:
 Qualcomm snapdragon

1.7GB Quad-core process

2GB Ram

2,300 mAh embedded battery

2.1 megapixel front-facing camera

4.1.2 Android Operating System

Latest version of the sense UI

4 megapixel rear camera

The rear camera is expected to pick up light and perform better at night than rival smartphone cameras. Similarly to its predecessor the HTC One X, the HTC One will come with a beats audio technology and dual front-facing speakers with a dedicated amplifier.

Couture Corner: handbags to match babes look

Every time I attend an event of a certain magnitude the first thing my eyes pay heavy attention to is a female’s appearance. The strangeness of this is that I tend to first stare at the handbag! Judging a female’s appearance based on the animal hide assists in knowing a bit about her character traits… yes it’s one of a criterion I use to judge a female.

Below are some handbags I figure could match a sophisticated and a go-getter babe on the move.

Something Dsquared prides as babes best mate

Box Office: Near death experience and an unknown read

A Good Day to Die Hard

Director: John Moore

Cast: Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney and Sebastian Koch

In this flat fifth edition of the Die Hard franchise, Bruce Willis plays the extra-ordinary and mortal John McClane an individual who’s too drawn in creating messy and sticky situations. With this offering maybe it’s time the Die Hard series is put to bed and archived somewhere hard to access. The film opens today across South Africa and much shouldn’t be expected as it still has the same feel as its predecessors.

The Words

Director: Brian Klugman

Cast: Bradley Cooper, Dennis Quaid and Jeremy Irons

The film opens with a scene in a book store where writer Rory Jansen played by Bradley Cooper lends an ear to a famous author,Clay Hammond played by Dennis Quaid, who reads a short extract from Jansen’s new novel. As the film develops it appears that Jansen didn’t write the book, instead he found it in a pile of junk in a dilapidated attic with no reference to the original author.

Gaming: Electronic Arts to offer ‘Real Racing 3’ for free

Gaming developers Electronic Arts plans to offer its special mobile racing game, ‘Real Racing 3’, for free to iOS and Android users. The mobile games predecessor ‘Real Racing 2’ was sold at a hefty price.

This compromise will see EA also claim a stake at a business known as “freemium” within the mobile industry. For the company this an opportunity to get in front of more faces that have a relative interest in mobile gaming and to be pretty certain this can prove to be a costly move or a well calculated move.

The company has already seen success in the arena with The Simpsons: Tapped Out, which still remains a cash cow through in-app purchases. ‘Real Racing 3’ will be available on February 28 and let’s hope with this offering EA won’t have any regrets for not attaching a price tag.
